Weekend

Daniel and I moved into the house and then immediately set off to the Isle of Palms/Charleston for a weekend of fun with my mom's side of the family.  Each year some crazy athletic members of the family partake in the annual Cooper River Bridge run.  The rest of us join in on the festivities as drivers and moral support.  Here are some photos that sum up our weekend!  Enjoy!

First night sleeping in the Master on Thursday.  Then it was off to the Isle of Palms!

My sister Georgia's sweet boyfriend Spencer joined us even though she's studying abroad in Paris.

When we got home, I noticed that our tulips are about to bloom!
Daniel broke his toe while we were gone, so moving will be a little slow for a bit.  That's ok, it gives me plenty of time to decide where everything goes :)

Our Kitchen!

Last night was our first night sleeping in the new house!  Woo Hoo!  There are still several small things to finish up, but for the most part our house is complete.  We have an official Certificate of Occupancy and everything!

I wanted to give an update on my favorite part of our house:  the kitchen.  We worked with a local carpenter (when I say local he literally lives down the street from our new house) for our cabinets and they turned out just as I imagined them in my mind.  I love the look of the white cabinets in the main kitchen area--they make everything feel so open and clean. Daniel and I decided to have the island a darker stain color to help transition the kitchen into the living room space.

Ignore the hanging cords for the under cabinet lights--we are a work in progress.

While designing the kitchen, I had a specific look for cabinet hardware in mind, I wanted something that wasn't bulky and would flow with the rest of the doorknobs and fixtures in the house.  Luckily,  D. Lawless Hardware has huge selection of knobs for amazing prices.  I was like a kid in a candy store.  D. Lawless provided us with the beautiful hardware you see here and I could not love them more.   If you are in the market for cabinet hardware I highly recommend D. Lawless Hardware!

As we get settled more updates will be coming soon!

House/Life Update

Hi Blog World!

Long time no see!  Things have been very crazy in all aspects of my life recently.  Daniel has been in Charlotte for the past 3 weeks for work, I've started working on my Master's research, AND our house has required constant attention recently.  This leaves little time for blogging.

I thought I would just upload a few pictures of the house from the past few weeks and leave it at that for now.  Hopefully in the next few days I will have some more photos of fun things like our cabinet installation to share!

House in the "snow."  The gutter on the front porch will soon be removed...we had a minor complication with that :)
Hickory going over the exposed beam and cabinet sneak peek.
Moscow Mules in solo cups while staining the front door.
With any luck, we hope to have a certificate of occupancy in the next week or so.  I can't wait to share all of the fun details that are coming together with the house!
