Painting

Daniel and I spent this weekend painting our house!  I know that many people are shocked to hear this, thinking that we would use a painter, but I'm extremely excited to actually contribute some sweat equity into our home!  It's a lot of work, but it's something that I can do to make the place feel like our own and it saves money.  Who doesn't love to save some money?

To start our weekend of painting, Muffin and I went by Sherwin Williams to finalize our paint selections.  I wanted to make sure that everything would flow well together.  As you may remember, on Friday morning I was still waffling about selecting a Navy Blue ceiling for our dining room.  Luckily the final selections were easy and Muffin and I were in and out of the store in less than an hour!

Saturday's recap has to start with a big THANK YOU to my in-laws and parents.  We honestly couldn't have done it without you!  They started bright and early while I was having an MRI of my right elbow.  Without their help, Daniel and I would've been painting long into the night by ourselves!

We decided to start with just a few rooms.  This way we can complete each room on our own timeframe without worrying about the paint going bad.  Daniel and I also thought that starting downstairs was a good idea--it would get us all warmed up for the main living spaces!

After finishing the first coat in 4 rooms, we decided to call it a day.  Daniel and I cleaned up and headed out for a hard earned Margarita!

Sunday morning we headed back out to the house to apply second coats to all of the rooms.  We also started prep work in all of the other rooms so that we can keep painting after work each day this week.   To prep, we have to sand down the primer in each room and tape off the ceilings.  It's hard work and I'm so thankful that we had so much help this weekend!

It's so much fun to be part of the actual building process.  Daniel and I are getting to actually feel like we are building our home and I'm loving every second of the hard work--ok maybe not every second, but most of it :)

I can't wait to share the finished rooms with you all!
